Ayr United have boosted their promotion hopes by extending the loan deal of Motherwell starlet Craig Moore until the end of the season.
The highly-rated 21-year-old has endured a stop-start campaign due to injury, missing almost three months of action, however he has still managed to notch six goals in nine starts.
And Somerset Park boss Ian McCall expects Moore, who has already found the net for Motherwell at senior level, to play a huge part during the League One run-in.
McCall beamed: “We have already seen the quality that Craig has and, if it wasn’t for injury, he would be well into double figures for the season.
“To get him for the rest of the season is a terrific signing for us and I know the fans will be delighted.”
Meanwhile, ‘Well gaffer Mark McGhee is adamant the youngster still has a big future at Fir Park.
He added: “I want to see him in competitive action as we plan ahead. As a 21-year old striker who is still developing and learning his craft, he needs regular first-team football, and at the moment that couldn’t be guaranteed here
“However, he is very much in our minds and we’ll closely monitor his weekly progress at Somerset Park.
“He’s one of a number of younger players we intend to loan out to get them more ready for future campaigns with Motherwell.”
