SFA to find out UEFA judgement following Scotland-Poland crowd disturbances

The Scottish Football Association are set to find out whether they face punishment following crowd disturbances during Scotland 2-2 draw against Poland.

UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary panel will meet today to pass judgement on a number of charges following the ill-fated Euro 2016 qualifier on October 8.

The encounter was peppered by Poland supporters igniting flares and fireworks, while one young supporter rushed onto the field to take a ‘selfie’ with the visitors’ two-goal hero Robert Lewandowski.

As a consequence, the SFA stand accuse of overseeing ‘insufficient organisation’, ‘field invasions by supporters’ and ‘blocked stairways’ during the fixture.

Poland’s FA have also been apportioned a share of the blame for the scenes inside the stadium and will face four separate charges, including ‘setting off and throwing fireworks’ and ‘crowd disturbances (fighting with stewards)’.

Any punishment will serve to rub salt in the wounds of the SFA following Scotland’s ninth consecutive failure to qualify for a major tournament.
