Ray McKinnon insists he has no qualms about Raith Rovers playing to the strengths of striker Jon Daly – even if it means occasionally resorting to a long-ball game.
McKinnon has won a growing reputation for a passing, attacking style of football in his managerial career and has steered his side to second in the Championship with a remarkable five straight home wins.
However, Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Morton was built on the aerial success of Daly, who McKinnon believes is getting better with each week after signing back in August.
And McKinnon insists the Stark’s Park men would be stupid not to draw on the talents the former Dundee United and Rangers target man brings to the team.
McKinnon said: “He’s a massive asset. He’s experienced, he’s a big, big unit, he wins headers and people can’t jump around him, and he causes panic in the opposition box.
“It’s a part of the game we utilise, there’s no doubt about that, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
“If you’ve got someone with that talent then you utilise it.
“He’s getting fitter and he’s getting stronger, and I’m delighted with Jon.”
