Raith Rovers are keeping their fingers crossed on the fitness of Lewis Vaughan after the attacker underwent a scan on the knee he injured at the weekend.
Manager Ray McKinnon revealed after Saturday’s 3-0 League Cup win over Albion Rovers that Raith feared the 19-year-old may have suffered a dislocated kneecap in a first-half clash with Albion’s player-manager, Darren Young.
Vaughan was keen to carry on after treatment but had to concede defeat and was clearly frustrated as he was substituted on the half-hour mark.
It was a bitter blow for the teenager, who had earlier netted Rovers’ first goal from the spot and who scored the only goal of the previous week’s Petrofac Training Cup win over local rivals Cowdenbeath.
Vaughan underwent a scan at lunch-time on Monday but was forced to wait for the test results amidst fears he could be set for a lengthy lay-off.
McKinnon said: “Lewis has had the scan and we’re just waiting to find out the results. My fingers are crossed for the wee fella.”
