Due to the limited mobility of the elderly man they were using a metal frame and harness known as a Stand Aid.

Brady lost her temper and initially slapped the man, then slapped him again, she then pulled the Stand Aid back, then pushed it forward striking the man on the head.

Speaking following sentencing today, Ruth McQuaid Procurator Fiscal, Summary, West of Scotland, said: “There is no excuse for such behaviour, especially from a woman who has been entrusted with the care of some of the more elderly members of our community.

“Thankfully the majority of individuals in this vital caring profession provide an excellent service, treating their residents with the care and dignity they deserve.

“We would like to assure the elderly, their families, friends and in the fact the public in general that the very small minority who commit such crimes are brought swiftly to justice and face the consequences of their actions. “
