SCOTS entrepreneurs looking for investment are being offered access to high-level, specialist tax advice from a new partner at a leading accountancy firm.
Neil Norman at Edinburgh based Chiene + Tait, says tax reliefs can help entrepreneurs obtain money to invest in their businesses through helping ‘business angels’ minimise their exposure to investment risk.
Chiene + Tait offers niche entrepreneurial tax advice on how to make the most of reliefs.
Neil has just begun as the firm’s entrepreneurial tax partner. His specialist advice enables investment through enterprise investment schemes, seed enterprise investment schemes, share schemes and R&D tax relief.
He works closely with new start-ups, university spin-outs, business accelerators, high-growth companies, life science organisations and entrepreneurs throughout Scotland to make sure they are fully up to speed with HMRC legislation.
Commenting on his recent promotion to partner, Neil says: “I am looking forward to developing our entrepreneur and angel investor expertise. We work with the majority of angel syndicates across Scotland and the high-growth companies they have invested in. A typical round of angel investment brings a start-up around half a million pounds.”
