Susan Boyle says she wants to make a jazz record

SUSAN Boyle has revealed she would “love” to make a Jazz album the next time she goes into the recording studio.

The Scots singer has told of her plans to conquer the “challenging” and “very specialised” musical genre.

Boyle, 52, who has sold over 20 million singles, told fans to “watch this space” as she plans to head into the studio and create her new album.

The singer, from Blackburn in West Lothian, revealed her plans while receiving a musical icon award at the Radio Forth awards in Edinburgh this week.

She said: “I’d love to do a jazz album next time. It would be an entire break from what I’m use to doing.

“It’s a challenging area and very specialised. Jazz is something I would really like to be involved in. Watch this space – anything can happen.”

Boyle recently released her current album Home for Christmas, which includes a digital collaboration with Elvis Presley on the classic song Come All Ye Faithful.

As well as planning her new album, and a UK tour next year, Boyle, will make her acting debut next month in the festive costume drama, The Christmas Candle.

She stars alongside fellow Scots John Hannah. James Cosmo, Hans Matheson and Sylvester McCoy. Boyle plays the wife of a reverend, played by Cosmo, in the film which also stars Les Miserables actress, Samantha Barks.

Boyle also spoke of her first ever film role, and revealed she would like to see the film have a Scottish premiere.

She said: “I’m hoping there will be a premiere in Scotland, but I don’t know if there will be at this stage, it will be up to the powers-that-be.

“I’ve seen bits of the new film, but not the whole thing yet. It’s very odd seeing yourself in the movies.”

She added: “I can’t say too much about it at the moment, other than that I play a church warden’s wife and do an awful lot of giggling. James Cosmo was a great guy to work with, very helpful and kind. I hope to go on and do more acting now.”
