IRN-BRU has announced a new competition to help Scots combat the rain-drenched start to the summer.
After one of the wettest on record so far, IRN-BRU is offering trips to the sun-drenched ‘BRU-Island’.
Ten winners will be revealed throughout the summer, each winning an all inclusive stay for four people to the Cape Verde Islands off the west coast of Africa.
The competition will be won through ‘instant win’ packs of IRN-BRU.
Head of Marketing for IRN-BRU, Adrian Troy, said: “Let’s face it – it’s not been the start to summer we’d all hoped for. IRN-BRU is helping get Scots through the rubbish weather, offering them a luxury stay on the sun soaked BRU-Island. It’s the perfect tonic to a saturated Scotland.”
Figures from the Met Office show the UK received 143.5mm of rain (the most since records began) and just 119.2 hours of sunshine in June 2012, and was also the coldest June since 1991 with average temperatures of 12.3C.
In contrast, the ten winners and their guests heading to ‘BRU-Island’ can expect to soak up the sun with average daily temperatures of around 27C in October.
