A 95-year-old woman may have set an unfortunate record as Scotland’s oldest road accident victim.
The OAP was knocked over by a van in Edinburgh during yesterday evening’s rush hour, suffering a broken hip.
Police investigating the accident said they were not aware of an older road casualty in Scotland.

The woman was walking by herself in the city’s Strathearn Road when a red VW van collided with her at “very slow speed”.
Sergeant Brian Smith of Lothian and Borders Police, who has 21 years’ police experience, said he had never come across an older casualty.
Sgt Smith, who is investigating the accident, said: “Going back around 15 years there was a serious accident involving a 91-year-old. But not a 95-year-old.”
He said the woman was in some pain but not unconscious when officers found her.
He continued: “She was lucid and talking – she’s quite spritely for her age.”
Police are keen to trace a “good Samaritan” who looked after the casualty until the emergency services arrived and she was taken to hospital.
Officers have already spoken to the driver of the van, who was not hurt.
The woman was just nine years after the first Model T Ford rolled off the line, heralding the age mass motoring.
A police spokeswoman said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and who saw anything to get in touch as a matter of urgency.”
The unfortunate victim is thought to have been born in 1917, just nine years after the first Model T rolled off the production line, starting affordable mass motoring as the world knows it.
