Underweight staffies seeking new homes following recovery

TWO dogs who were rescued while severely underweight are looking for new homes after making a full recovery.

Five-year-old Staffordshire bull terriers Scrappy and Dora came into the care of the Scottish SPCA in March.

Scrappy weighed just over 10kg and Dora just 8.6kg. Both were immediately put on a weight-gain programme by staff at the Scottish SPCA’s Angus, Tayside and Fife Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre at Petterden, by Dundee.

Scrappy and Dora have been looking for new homes for three months

After making a full recovery, Scrappy and Dora now weigh a healthy 14kg and 12.5kg respectively.

Staff have been desperately trying to find them a loving home together for almost three months, but so far the pair have been sadly overlooked by visitors.

Assistant Manager Lesley Clark said, “Scrappy and Dora have been through so much together and all we want is to see them relaxed and happy in a loving home.

“They are an adorable wee pair with fantastic little characters who have so much fun and affection to offer their new owner.

“They love playtime and cuddles but they can have the occasional lovers tiff, which is soon settled as we always find them cosied up in bed together at the end of the day.

“If one goes anywhere alone the other pines really badly and when they return they get such a lovely welcome.

“They truly are inseparable and after everything they’ve been through together there’s no way we would split them up.

“An ideal home for Scrappy and Dora would be with someone who has owned dogs previously and has the time and energy to give two active, fun loving dogs the life they deserve.

“After such a tough start in life we hope there is someone out there who can offer our couple the fresh start and love they deserve.”
