The timing of Megrahi’s death is “utterly uncanny”

THE writer of a new play about the town of Lockerbie which  premiers on Saturday said the timing of Abdelbaset al-Megrahi death is “utterly uncanny”.

“The Lockerbie Bomber”, written by Alan Clark will open in Falkirk on Saturday. The fictional drama begins at the point where Megrahi had just died, resulting the attempt of journalists to bring to light the truth hidden by the US and UK security services.

Clark wrote the play last summer and Tryst Theatre have been working on it since January. He said: “It’s unbelievable – fiction has eerily become fact as the sad news of his death in Tripoli comes through.”

He continued: “Many of the issues being discussed today after his death are examined in detail in the play which, for the actors and the audience, will now have far greater poignancy.”

Members of the “Justice for Megrahi” campaign who believe that Megrahi was not guilty of the 1988 bombing will be in the audience.
