A 48-year-old man will be appearing at Cupar Sheriff Court today (21st May), in connection with six thefts from houses in North East Fife between April 27 and May 17.
Detective Constable Jim Soutar, who led the inquiry, said: “Extensive police enquiries have led us to identify and report a man for stealing from houses as far apart as Falkland and Colinsburgh.
“We have also been able to recover some of the property taken from these houses and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the public for their assistance in this and in other enquiries. In particular, the success of this enquiry was as a direct result of a call from a member of the public who noted the registration number of a suspicious vehicle. This greatly assisted us in our investigations and ultimately led to the arrest of the man accused of these crimes.
“The public have a key role to play in the prevention and detection of crime and I would urge anyone who sees anything suspicious to contact Fife Constabulary straight away, either directly on 0845 600 5702 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111”.
