THE Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after two cats were found dumped in woodland.
A member of the public spotted the pets inside an extremely small carrier just off Carbarns Road in Netherton, Wishaw, on Sunday morning
(13 May) and handed them in to the charity’s Lanarkshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.
The male and female cats, who are around five to eight years old, have been named Duchess and O’Malley by staff at the centre in Hamilton.

Centre assistant manager Lorraine Alba said, “Poor Duchess and O’Malley were left in a carrier which was far too small for them.
“It was very lucky they were found by a kind person who helped them as they didn’t have any food or water available.
“Dumping them in such a remote spot was extremely cruel and we’re so glad these cats are now safe.
“They’ll soon be looking for a new home where they’ll be treated with the love and care they deserve.”
Abandoning an animal is an offence and anyone found guilty of doing so can expect to be banned from keeping animals for a fixed period or life.
