Police warn homeowners to secure property following wave of break-ins

POLICE are appealing for information following a spate of housebreakings.

Three homes in Baillielands, Oatlands Park and Deanburn Road, Linlithgow, were broken into between 1900hrs and 2100hrs on Tuesday, May 1. Various items were taken from the properties, including money and jewellery.

Officers believe these incidents are linked and those responsible may also have been involved in other recent housebreakings in areas of South Queensferry, including the Dundas Castle Golf Club.

Anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious in any of these locations is asked to come forward.

A police spokesman said: “The victims of these crimes have all been left devastated by the break-ins to their homes and the theft of their possessions.

“We are keen to identify and trace the culprits as soon as possible and anyone with information that can assist with our enquiries is asked to contact police immediately.

“Homeowners and tenants are reminded to always ensure their property is properly secured and that valuables are stored in a safe location out of sight.

“Members of our communities who witness any suspicious activity in or around a neighbour’s property should report the matter to police.”

Anyone with any information can contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or the charity Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
