Eighteen Scottish charities are benefitting from awards totalling £146,804 in the first tranche of donations for 2012 from the Bank of Scotland Foundation.
The latest tranche brings the Foundation’s donations to over £1.6m to charities across Scotland since it was created in November 2010.
The regional awards are made up of:
- Glasgow (3) – £30,000
- Mid Scotland and Fife (2) – £14,328
- Lothian (5) – £54,052
- West Scotland (3) – £14,119
- North East Scotland (1) – £10,000
- South Scotland (4) – £24,305
The Foundation said it received many excellent proposals from charities, highlighting the real need for funding and the benefit it will have on the community.
“In today’s economic climate, this funding is vital for charities’ day to day running,” added the Foundation.
“The Foundation’s donations will help to develop and improve communities and provide specific support for money advice and financial literacy projects across Scotland,” it added.
Kate Guthrie, HR Director, Insurance, Lloyds Banking Group and Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, said: “We had a fantastic response to the first year of the Small Grants Programme and are now delighted to be entering our second year of funding.
“Our 2012 Programme will be split across four tranches which we hope will give charities ample opportunity to submit their applications.”
The Bank of Scotland Foundation is an independent charity working with charities across Scotland supporting people and their local communities.
The Foundation receives an annual donation of £1m from Lloyds Banking Group to fund its work.
The second tranche of funding for 2012 is now open and charities have until Monday 16 April 2012 to send in their applications.
