Police hunt hit and run moped rider

The red moped hit the pensioner on Wednesday afternoon

A PENSIONER was knocked over by a learner moped rider, who got back on his bike and rode off.

Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for witnesses following a hit and run incident inEdinburgh.

A 62-year-old man was crossing the road inBruntsfield Placeat around 4.40pm yesterday (Wednesday) he was hit by the red moped.

Both the pedestrian and the moped rider fell to the ground before the rider got back on his vehicle and rode off southwards along Bruntsfield Place.

The man was taken to the ERI where he was treated for minor injuries.

Police are now urging anyone who saw the collision to come forward.

There is currently no description of the rider and the bike is only described as red with learner plates on it.

A police spokesman said: “Fortunately the pedestrian was not seriously injured as a result of this collision. However, it is vital we trace the moped rider to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident.

“We would ask that he make contact with police immediately.

“Similarly, anyone who was in the Bruntsfield area at the time and can assist with our enquiries is also asked to get in touch.”
