Raven star plays Fairy godmother to Sick Kids

James Mackenzie took time out from panto to make the gift

SCOTS TV star James Mackenzie dropped into surprise the children at the Sick Kids hospital today.

The actor, who starred in the children’s programme ‘Raven’, presented gifts from the Fairy Box charity to the staff and patients on the Haematology and Oncology ward.

It was the first donation made possible by the Emma Cameron Foundation, which has pledged around £4,500 over the next 12 months to provide hundreds of toys and gifts.

James said: “I was really pleased when Fairy Box asked me to visit the hospital today and spread some Fairy magic around the ward. I know that this must be a very difficult time for the children and their families and hope that this gift can bring some festive cheer.”

Dr Angela Thomas, Consultant Haematologist, Royal Hospital for Sick Children, said: “We are delighted that Fairy Box and the Emma Cameron Foundation have been able to provide this support to the hospital and the children and young people who receive treatment on Ward 2.

“Being in hospital at any time isn’t easy but at this time of year it can be even harder. I know this Fairy Box will bring a smile to many faces over the festive period and throughout the year.”

Alan Cameron, founder of the Emma Cameron Foundation, said: “The toys and gifts provided by Fairy Box where big help to Emma during her treatment for osteosarcoma at Yorkhill Children’s Hospital inGlasgow.

“We set up the foundation to support the smaller charities who were their for Emma during her treatment. I’m very pleased that this donation to Fairy Box will help children at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children throughout the year ahead.”
