Boy injured in city hit and run

The boy suffered a broken arm

A BOY has been taken to hospital after being injured in a hit and run accident.

The 12-year-old was crossing Marchmont Road in Edinburgh at around 8.40am when he was struck.

The driver of the small green vehicle initially slowed down before driving off.

The boy was left with a broken left arm which needed hospital treatment.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses to the incident.

A police spokesman said: “The young boy suffered a painful injury to his arm and anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact police immediately.

“We would similarly urge the driver of the car to get in touch as soon as possible.

“There is a chance they may not have realised the severity of the collision and it is vitally important they make contact with us to explain the circumstances surrounding this incident.”
