Tributes paid to man who died in weekend car crash

Jamie died after his Peugeot 206 hit a tree

THE family of a man killed in a car crash at the weekend have paid tribute to their “caring, quick-witted” son.

Jamie McLaughlin, 21, from Craigshill, Livingston died on Saturday after his car clipped the kerb and hit a tree at around 9pm.

Despite being taken to hospital he later succumbed to his injuries.

In a statement issued through Lothian and Borders Police, Jamie’s family thanked the emergency services for coming to his aid, and the staff at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for trying to save him.

They said: “Jamie was a son to be proud of, he was very caring quick-witted and would do anything to help others.

“He has been taken from us far too early, but at 21 he had his own flat, had bought his car and was a really hard worker.

“As can be seen on his Facebook page he really looked out for all his friends and family.

“Rest in peace Jamie, please give your little brother a hug when you meet in heaven.

Meanwhile police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward.
