A WOMAN killed on a busy road on Tuesday night could have been hit by more than one vehicle, police say.
Police say 36-year-old Vanessa Miller was walking along the south-bound carriageway of the A90 when she was struck near the Cramond Brig Hotel at around 7.40pm.
They believe she had walked from the Barnton area of Edinburgh and are appealing for any motorist who may have seen her on the road.
The woman is described as being 5ft 3ins tall, with blonde hair, and was wearing a black leather jacket with a fur collar, jeans and black boots.
The driver who reported the incident to police stopped at the scene and is assisting with inquiries. The road was closed for around nine hours while investigations were carried out at the scene.
Inspector David Milne, of Lothian and Borders Police, said: “We are appealing to drivers who may have been on the A90 last night between 6.30pm and 7.40pm, either coming into, or travelling out of, Edinburgh.
“It was a particularly cold stormy night, so people may have thought it was unusual for a woman to be out walking this stretch of road at that time.
“We are currently working to establish exactly what happened, and would appeal for anyone with any information to contact us a matter of urgency on 0131 311 3131.”
