Police seek help to piece together the missing hours of an injured man

The man suffered a head injury after leaving a local pub

POLICE in Dunfermline are appealing for help in tracing the movements of a man found unconscious in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The man was found on Aberdour Road, Dunfermline near to the junction with Lawrence Street just before 4am on Saturday. He was last seen around midnight on Friday, having been drinking with friends in the city’s Barley Sheaf pub, before leaving on his own.

He had suffered a serious head injury and was later operated on in the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh, where he remains in a serious condition.

Detective Sergeant Ross Davidson said: “We currently have no idea how this man came to be in this state. He was drinking earlier in the evening but was said not to be drunk when he left his friends, so we are keen to piece together his movements in the subsequent four hours.

“We do not yet know whether he was assaulted or how he came to be injured, so we are appealing for any sightings or information to contact us directly on 0845 600 5702 or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
