THIEVES threatened supermarket staff with a bladed weapon before making off with thousands of pounds in cash.
Workers at the Tesco store on Great Western Road, Aberdeen were targeted at around 10.45pm on Sunday.
The three staff members present were uninjured but left shaken by the incident.
Detective Inspector Norman Stevenson said: “Detectives are making enquiries into the incident today and I want to offer our assurance to the community that the force is committed to identifying those responsible and to bringing them to justice.
“We are appealing to the local community for their help in identifying those responsible.
Abandoned
“In particular we are keen to hear from anyone who saw three men in the area around this time. All three are aged in their late teens or early twenties and were wearing dark coloured clothing including hooded tops. The men also partially covered their faces.”
Police are also investigating the discovery of an abandoned car to see if it is connected to the raid.
The Subaru Impreza was discovered on the Cove to Findon road at around midnight last night.
DI Stevenson said: “We strongly suspect the car could be connected to the robbery. I would appeal to anyone who saw this vehicle as well as urge anyone who may have seen the three men in the lead up to or in the aftermath of the incident to come forward.
“We are determined to bring those responsible to justice and it may be that someone in the local area has seen something which they believe to be insignificant but may be vital link we are looking for.”
