Homelessness charity benefits from The Secret Millionaire

Ivan Massow worked alongside the homelessness charity for the hit TV show

EDINBURGH  charity Fresh Start is to feature in a new episode of The Secret Millionaire, Channel 4’s award winning documentary.

The charity, which aims to reach out to help those in need to get back onto their feet, was visited by millionaire Ivan Massow during his undercover stay in the area.

Fresh Start is a charitable organisation in Edinburgh that works to end homelessness. Each year Fresh Start helps thousands of new tenants, ranging from families to individuals settle into their homes. They involve volunteers and organisations from a broad section of the community, and deliver a range of services that provide essential household goods, practical and social support that helps people resettle successfully.

Shocked

Ivan Massow donates some of his wealth to the charity after a spell helping out. Staff at the charity were left shocked and stunned when Ivan handed over a substantial financial gift at the end of the show

Keith Roberton, Director at Fresh Start, said: “It’s not every day you realise that there’s a millionaire volunteering at your charity who wants to donate money to you. So, the staff and volunteers were pretty shocked when the big reveal happened.

“We can’t wait until the October 23 to settle down and watch the staff and volunteers on the TV. Everyone’s quite excited.

“Fresh Start is delighted to have been chosen by Ivan and the substantial donation was a very welcome boost that will be used to continue our work helping people who’ve been homeless settle into a new home.”

Fresh Start can be seen in the new series of Secret Millionaire on Sunday, October 23 at 9pm, on Channel 4.
