Liz Hurley dazzled fans in Jenners

By Niamh Anderson

LIZ Hurley swept along a baby pink carpet and into the fairy light-strewn interior of Edinburgh’s oldest department store today, dazzling all before her.

The star looked stunning in a blush-coloured creped dress teamed with nude platform heels.

The only thing missing from Jenners was her Australian cricketer fiancé, Shane Warne, although he was there spiritually – in the shape of Hurley’s giant blue engagement ring.

Hurley, who said she was “absolutely thrilled” to be engaged, visited the famous store to publicise Estee Lauder’s pink collection for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

On the steps of the store, a pink-kilted piper struck up while a workman made the finishing touches to the pink “red” carpet laid on Princes Street.

Inside, Jenners’ main hall was decked out with hundreds of lights, another giant pink carpet, and huge portraits of the star.

Hurley signed personal messgaes to fans and their relatives

The glass-topped table at which Hurley signed Estee Lauder purchases for fans was decked out with pink roses and even the straw in her glass of water was pink.

But another colour – the blue of Hurley’s engagement ring – really caught the eyes of onlookers.

Holly Fraaman, 22, an assistant merchandiser from Essex, said she was shocked at the size of Hurley’s rock.

She said: “It’s so much bigger than I expected but it’s beautiful.”

Hurley was not giving interviews but, asked if she was excited to be engaged, she said: “Absolutely thrilled. That’s all I’m going to say.”

As Fly Me To The Moon was played on a grand piano, Hurley signed personal messages to fans and their relatives.

“I was getting my photo with her and I couldn’t stop staring at her,” added an awestruck Holly.

“She even took the time to sign a message for my gran who just had an  operation for breast cancer.

“She was so lovely,” she added.

Even male office workers spent their lunch hour queuing up to meet the star.

Jenners was kitted out in pink for the arrival of the star

Barry Fitzpatrick, 31, Ed Tweddle, 27, Keith Miller, 30, and Ian Mullany, 29, all Ernst & Young employees, were delighted to meet Hurley.

Barry said: “It was great – she beats a sandwich any day.”

Ian added: “I’ve always been a huge fan. She looked super hot in Austin Powers and I can’t believe she’s 47.”

Speculation was rife among fans whether Hurley would get married in Scotland.

Keith said: “It would be great if she got married in Scotland. Any excuse for Liz to come back is great even if it is to get married.”

All four of the men bought the breast cancer pin to give to their wives.

But Keith admitted: “I’ll probably give the pin to my wife but I might keep the box because Liz signed it.”

Such was the demand, Estee Lauder sold out of the £10 jewelled pink ribbon pins.

Also available in the line was a compact face powder for £55, the Liz Hurley and Estee Lauder lipstick sets for £18.50 each, and the “perfection serum” which was the priciest of the line, costing £65.

Fans had to buy one of these items to be lucky enough to join the glitzy VIP line and meet the star.

An Estee Lauder saleswoman said the line sold very well.

“We were so busy, the jewelled ribbons sold out within two hours,” she said.
