Dog killed in house fire

Crews were unable to save the dog

A WHITE Staffordshire bull terrier was killed in a house fire in Ann Street in Boghall last night.

Firefighters responded to a fire in a three bedroom semi-detached house in the area at 8.06pm.

They found the house in flames on arrival and had difficulty tackling the blaze due to its intense heat.

Six firefighting apparatus were used in the incident and no human casualties were reported.

The fire service said the dog passed away as a result of the fire.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

A police spokesman said: “Fortunately the occupants were not injured, although they are deeply upset at the death of their pet dog.

“We are currently working alongside Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service to establish what happened and anyone with information that can assist our enquiries is asked to contact police immediately.”
