Violent prisoner hunted by police

McGarva failed to return to Castle Huntly prison

A VIOLENT convict who failed to return to prison is being hunted by police.

Thomas McGarva went missing after being given a weeks release to Falkirk.

The 33-year-old was due to return to Castle Huntly open prison, near Dundee, yesterday (wed) but did not turn up.

McGarva was sentenced to 32 months at Glasgow Sheriff Court in June last year after being convicted of assault and robbery.

He transferred to HMP Castle Huntly in February this year.

As well as having friends in the Falkirk area, he also has friends and associates in the Glasgow area and Edinburgh.

McGarva is six feet tall, with blue eyes and is bald.
