FIRE crews tackled a blaze at a papermill today (mon).
Six fire engines rushed to the Tullis Russell site in Glenrothes, Fife just after noon.
Workers at the factory have battled to contain the fire by removing paper bales from the site with a fork lift.
No one has been reported as injured in the incident.
Firefighters used one of their engines as a water tower to dampen down the flames.
A company spokesman said the incident had been small.
He said: “”We had a small localised fire within our production site which was quickly contained with no casualties, no danger to employees or contractors, no damage to machinery and only a small loss of work-in-progress paper.
“The fire was caused by ongoing demolition works. Local fire service attended the scene to ensure the situation was under control.”
A spokeswoman for Fife Fire and Rescue said: “We were called to a fire at the Tullis Russell paper mill at 12.04pm.
“Five appliances and one hight appliance are in attendance and the high appliance is being used as a water tower.
“Workers are using fork lifts to remove paper bales from the area.”
