Taxi driver attacked by passenger

The driver was assaulted by his passenger in a suprise attack

A TAXI driver was left shaken after he was attacked by one of his passengers.

The 61-year-old man had picked up three people when one of the passengers began to assault him.

The man tried to rob the driver after asking to be taken to Bathgate, West Lothian.

The attackers then fled while another woman remained in the car.

The attack happened shortly after 8:15pm yesterday in Bathgate’s Belvedere Place.

The attacker has been described as white, 18 to 19-years-old with a medium build and dark hair.

He was wearing a grey jacket with purple stripes on the sleeves, black tracksuit bottoms and black footwear.

The woman is white, female, aged 16-17-years-old, 5ft 4ins tall with a thin build and long hair.

Police have said that the other woman is helping with their enquiries.

A police spokesman said: “The driver was not injured, nor did he surrender any of his money, but nevertheless he was left shaken by the incident and we are investigating to find those responsible for this incident.’
