Second white van spotted at Grange murder scene

POLICE investigating the alleged murder of a man at a flat in Edinburgh are trying to trace a second white van driver spotted leaving the scene.

Stewart Taylor, 33, was found dead at the flat in Chalmers Crescent on Monday morning, and his girlfriend Lynsey Methevn, 30, was rushed to hospital with “serious injuries”.

A 43-year-old man appeared in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday (Thur) charged in connection with the alleged murder and alleged attempted murder of Ms Methven.

He made no plea nor declaration and was remanded in custody until his next appearance.

Police believe a second man was spotted in the area between 7.30am and 7.40am on Monday, shortly before emergency services were called to a fire at the ground floor flat.

Firefighters rescued Ms Methven from the blaze and found Mr Taylor’s body in the burning building.

The driver of the second white van is described as being between 30-45-years-old and has collar length curly brown hair.

Lothian and Borders Police force are urging the man to come forward immediately and say he may have information which could assist officers with their inquiries.

Anyone with information should contact the police on 0131 311 3131 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
