THE funeral of a father-of-two who was found dead outside the rear of his pub is to take place next week.
Steven Curran, 47, was discovered lying behind the Dolphin Inn at Whitecraig, East Lothian, at around 2am on Thursday 23 October.
It is thought that the incident is related to a single car collision which took place on the A1 the same night.
A local man has since been charged with his murder.
Mr Curran’s funeral service will now be held at Mortonhall Crematorium Main Chapel in Edinburgh on Tuesday at 11am.
A funeral notice published yesterday read: “Tragically taken from us, Stevie, much loved husband of Jill, proud and loving dad of Abbie (13) and Lucy (6), adoring son of Fred and the late Sheila and brother to Kathleen, Evelyn and Sheila.
“A service will be held at Mortonhall Crematorium Main Chapel on Tuesday, November 9, at 11am to which all family and friends are welcome.”
A huge police investigation swung into place following the discovering of the publican’s death.
A car – believed to be his wife Jill’s silver coloured Toyota Celecia – was discovered abandoned after colliding with a central reservation on the southbound carriageway sometime around 12.30am.
A police cordon was immediately thrown up around the pub while the A1 was also closed for investigators to hunt for clues.
An appeal was then issued for anyone with information about the car’s movements before it was found.
It is understood that the family lived in the flat above the pub which Mr Curran had run for about two years.
In a previous statement Mrs Curran said: “We are all devastated by recent events which have taken Steven from our close knit family.
“He was a much loved husband, father, brother and son who will be sorely missed.
“He was a very family orientated man and myself and our two young daughters were the centre of his life.
“We request that our privacy be respected at this difficult time.”
Lee McNamara, 23, appeared on petition at Haddington Sheriff Court and is also charged with the theft of a car.
He made no plea or declaration and has been remanded in custody until he appears in court again.
