Police name man found dead on Arthur’s Seat

POLICE have identified a man whose body was found on Arthur’s Seat at the weekend.

Andrew Algeo, 45, from the Restalrig area of Edinburgh was found at around 10pm on Sunday by a member of the public.

It took police until 2.30pm the next day to retrieve his body due to its location.

Lothian and Borders Police said that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

Today, Mr Algeo’s family were to upset to talk about his death, saying they “wanted time to grieve”.

Police had to draft in Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue to help them reach the rocky area just below the summit known as the Dry Dam.

The complex operation took most of Monday, with climbers with ropes making their way round to the area where the body was found.

A report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
