DRUGS cops swooped to seize a number of cannabis plants growing in a luxury apartment complex in Edinburgh yesterday.
Officers raided the plush balconied pad in the Bonnington area of the city as part of an ongoing drugs operation.
Ten fully matured cannabis plants were removed by detectives after they forced their way into the flat yesterday at around 11am.
They also removed a large quantity of equipment used to cultivate the class B drug from the building, where apartments sell for around £300,000.
Last night officers were still questioning an individual in connection with the find.
The seizure of the plants, worth an estimated £300 each, is part of an ongoing drive to crush low level dealers in the Lothian and Borders region.
Operation Adrenaline has already taken around £30,000 worth of drugs off the streets in the past three months, including heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine, cannabis, and various prescription drugs.
Around £10,000 in cash has also been seized through the proceeds of crime act, along with three full scale hydroponics systems used to grow cannabis using artificial light.
Detective Inspector Andy McLaughlin said: “This successful operation has taken a large amount of drugs off our streets and out of our communities.
“We are dedicated to tackling drug activity at a grass roots level, since we know that any low level offending can spiral into increasingly destructive criminal behaviour.
“This type of crime has a huge impact on quality of life for residents and we will deal with any intelligence received robustly and thoroughly.
