POLICE are renewing their appeal for information in the search for a missing Scots mum who was last seen a week ago in her pyjamas.
Elizabeth McVey – known as Libby – was reported missing from her home in Musselburgh in the early hours of last Monday (March 22) morning by her family.
With no sign of the mother-of-two despite intensive police and coastguard searches, Lothian and Borders Police are renewing their appeal for information.
They are particularly keen to track down two people who are thought to have spoken to the council worker at around 6am on Sunday March 21 at Musselburgh Harbour.
“Wonderful”
Elizabeth’s family issued a heart felt plea to her last week as concern for the missing mum grew.
The family said: “Libby is a wonderful wife and mother and our lives have been turned upside down since she left.
“We would ask that if Libby is watching or listening to this appeal then please make contact with someone to let us know that you are safe and well.
“We all love and miss you and want you to come home as soon as possible.
“Our family are all extremely anxious to find her and bring her home.
“The past couple of days since she was found to be missing have been incredibly difficult for us all and we would ask anyone who may have seen her to get in touch with the police.”
“Fresh information”
The last time the keen churchgoer was seen was around 12.30am at her home in Eskview Road before she was reported missing by relatives seven hours later.
She is understood to live at the house with her husband Michael and grown up children, son Mark and daughter Lynsey.
The 50-year-old had been wearing sky blue pyjama bottoms and a t-shirt when she was last seen, but her husband told police he was unsure if anything was missing from her wardrobe.
Mrs McVey was described 4ft 11ins tall with collar-length fair hair and a fresh complexion, of average build, and possibly wearing glasses.
A police spokesman said: “We are keen for any fresh information that can help shed any light on Elizabeth’s movements in the day leading up to her disappearance, and of course any sightings of her since she went missing.
“We believe that Elizabeth may have spoken to two people who were in the area of Musselburgh Harbour early on Sunday morning, and we are keen to speak to them.
“Anyone else who has any other information that can assist our inquiries should also get in touch.”
