FIREFIGHTERS battled for two hours to rescue a cat who had taken cover from the winter weather – in its owner’s car engine.
The four-year-old moggy – named Snowy – was discovered moments before his owner Tracy set out on her journey.
And it took a local vet and the fire brigade two hours in knee-deep snow to get the petrified pet out.
Tracy, 40, had opened her BMW’s car bonnet to refill her windscreen wash when, to her horror, her white cat was tangled up inside.
She said: “He had got himself so stuck that it took more than two hours for the fire brigade to get him out.
“I call him my ASBO (Anti-Social Behaviour Order) as he’s always getting into bother.
“I can’t thank the vets and the fire service enough for all their efforts.”
Snowy was treated for hypothermia and was covered in oil when he was finally set free.
The incident took place in Dunfermline, where Tracy was staying with her parents.
And vet Graham Dodds came to the rescue when he clambered underneath the car to give Snowy an injection to sedate him.
He said: “It was a bit of an awkward job but everybody’s delighted that there’s a happy ending.
“That wouldn’t have been the case if the owner had just got into the car and drove away as normal.”
