ONE Scots business told how the collapse of Flyglobespan would have a huge knock on affect on them just months after securing what had been their biggest contract win of the year to supply the airline with uniforms.
Gill Eastgate, company director of corporate couture supplier NKD Clothing said: “We will feel a significant knock on effect, as will our partners.
“We feel awful, we’ve had to call all of our suppliers this morning and apologise because after all their efforts we now won’t be able to place orders.
“This includes mock-ups and samples of badges, bespoke scarves and ties – all of which we’ll be billed for so we’ll be out of pocket by several hundred pounds.
“The sudden collapse of the business is such sad and worrying news and our thoughts are with staff at Flyglobespan, with whom we have built a great working relationship to date.
“We are extremely disappointed and there is no getting away from the fact that as a small business we will really feel the effect of losing this contract.”
“All in all, this news is pretty demoralising for us.
“Flyglobespan was our biggest contract win in 2009 and was worth around £80,000 for us. It was our first contract within the airline industry, so it was very exciting for the team.”
NKD won the contract to design and supply Flyglobespan’s crew and pilot uniforms in July 2009 – a contract worth in the region of £80k.
They had already supplied some of the uniforms to the airline’s HQ.
