EDINBURGH coffee lovers queued for a taste of Blank Street Coffee’s signature blends on Friday, in advance of the second branch opening in the city.
A pop-up was in place on the intersection of Princes Street and Castle Street over the weekend, handing out free drinks to those passing by.
The viral brand, famous for their signature matcha, opened another cafe on Victoria Street just last month.
Long lines of customers eagerly waited for a free cup of blueberry matcha or a daydream latte.
The popular chain, first launched in Brooklyn in 2020, arrived in Scotland last month with a swish “housewarming” at their Victoria Street branch, featuring free drinks and crocheted flowers.
They then created a further buzz over the weekend with a pop-up celebrating the opening of their Princes Street branch, which launched on Saturday.
The brand is most popular for their matcha blends, which they describe as “clean, natural, and high quality”.
Last year, they caught online attention for releasing a nail varnish in the same shade as their matcha, in collaboration with Shoreditch Nails.
The chain has locations in New York, Boston, Washington, as well as London, Manchester, Birmingham, and now Edinburgh.
Though the pop-up event was postponed due to Storm Éowyn, Blank Street still had the chance to “add a little spark to a cold daily commute” by offering tickets which could be exchanged for free drinks.
The blueberry matcha is one of the most popular drinks on Blank Street’s menu, with the daydream latte consisting of a blend of vanilla bean, honey, and cinnamon.
