Bodies of man and six-year-old girl discovered in West Lothian house

A MAN and a child have been found dead in “unexplained” circumstances in a house in West Lothian.

The bodies of a 36-year-old man and a six-year-old girl were found dead at a property in Harburn Drive in West Calder yesterday,

Police Scotland officers were called to the scene following reports of concern for a person, with fire crews helping them gain access to the property.

Post mortem examinations will take place in due course, with the deaths currently being treated as unexplained.

The force has confirmed that relatives of the pair have been informed and are being supported by officers, with enquiries ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

Chief inspector Elaine McArthur-Kerr, local area commander, said: “We understand this incident may be very upsetting and worrying for the people living in this community and would ask anyone with any concerns to speak to us.

“A police presence will remain in the area while we carry out investigations and anyone with any concerns, or information, can approach these officers.”
