Leadership transition marks strategic new chapter
SCOTLAND’S LEADING independent living specialist is set to embark on a new strategic journey, after announcing Jason MacGilp as the incoming Chief Executive of Blackwood Housing and Care.
The organisation has announced this leadership transition as Simon Fitzpatrick departs after a two-year tenure. He will be taking on the role of Chief Executive at the West of Scotland Housing Association.
Simon previously served as Blackwood’s Development and Commercial Director, where he led the creation of the award-winning Blackwood House model, now regarded as the gold standard for accessible housing in Scotland.

Jason MacGilp, formerly Chief Executive of Cairn Housing Group, joins Blackwood with over a decade of experience leading housing organisations through periods of strategic transformation.
Reflecting on his time as CEO, Simon Fitzpatrick, said: “It has been a privilege to lead Blackwood Housing and Care and to work alongside a dedicated team.

Jason will officially assume his role as Chief Executive in February 2025 with a focus on driving Blackwood’s vision of creating accessible, sustainable homes and enhancing services for residents.
