A PLUSH luxury vehicle was towed from outside St Giles’ Cathedral in the middle of the memorial for former First Minister Alex Salmond.
The pricey motor was seen being lifted onto a flatbed truck by winch outside the cathedral on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile on St Andrew’s Day.
The gaffe happened right as the memorial for the late Alex Salmond was ongoing, where thousands turned out to mourn the former leader of the SNP and Alba party member following his sudden death in October.
Amidst the crowds of public and press, the expensive saloon-style vehicle was towed away after being improperly parked.
Images show the vehicle being lifted by a crane fitted to the back of a flatbed truck while memorial goers watch on.
The vehicle is seen suspended in midair above the truck before being lowered onto the bed to be taken away.
It’s unclear who the vehicle belongs to, but it was presumably the property of a memorial attendee.
Images captured by an Edinburgh local who was in attendance at Salmond’s memorial were shared on social media the same day.
They were posted with the caption: “Outside the French Consulate, any idea why there’s a crowd of reporters filming this?”
It received over 110 likes and more than 20 comments from social media users explaining that the vehicle was being towed and that reporters were in attendance for the politician’s memorial.
One user wrote: “They (reporters) don’t look like they’re filming to me. They look like they just happen to be there.”
Another added: “It’s Alex Salmond’s funeral today I believe. Saw it on the news this morning.”
A third replied: “Definitely big Eck’s (sic) memorial.”
