Popular Edinburgh boozer bags a double at national awards event

A POPULAR Edinburgh bar has bagged two wins at an awards event for Scottish boozers.

Teuchters Landing scooped a double yesterday at the Scottish Bar and Pubs Awards – formerly known as The Drams.

The bar, situated down at the bustling docks of Leith in the capital, was awarded the Best Outdoor Area and Best Drinks Selection honours at the event.

The popular boozer has been around since 2008, when it was opened by Peter Knight and John Tindal – both of whom hail from up north, hence the usage of “teuchter”, a contemptuous word for a Highlander or anyone from the north.

The bar hosts a number of outdoor seating options next to the iconic Water of Leith, and a pontoon seating area next to a renowned bridge that has existed in Leith since the 19th century.

They offer a whopping 22 beers and 250 malt whiskeys to punters enjoying the pontoon seating.

Teuchters also offers a wide selection of hot food options for drinkers looking to soak up the alcohol and keep warm in the winter.

Teuchter’s Landing also has a sister bar, located on William Street in Edinburgh’s West End, which opened in 2001.
