Bridge of Allan student hoping to raise £1,000 in Christmas charitfundraiser

STRATHCARRON Hospice is set to benefit from a Christmas fundraiser at Fairview International school organised by student, Lewis Frickleton.

The 15-year-old student has masterminded the event, which is set to take place on Saturday, December 7, as part of his middle years programme personal project.

Lewis hopes to help raise £1,000 for Strathcarron Hospice, which provides specialist Hospice care and expert end of life care for the people of Forth Valley, Cumbernauld, and Kilsyth.

Each student within the Year 11 class must choose a topic in which they are to explore, create, and develop and finally report on the project and its impact.

The topic can be an area of personal interest and aims to allow the student to consolidate their learnings and help them with skills that they can use beyond their time in the classroom.

As part of his project, Lewis has encouraged his fellow classmates to run a stall at his Christmas carnival event which aligns with Fairview’s FairBiz module, used throughout the Fairview International campuses.

The FairBiz concept allows students to develop their business skills in a safe environment; as part of this, students will be given the opportunity to have their own stall at the school’s annual Christmas Carnival where they can sell homemade bakes and crafts, and at the end, will donate 50% of their overall profits to Strathcarron Hospice.

Victoria Gamble, headteacher at Fairview International School, Bridge of Allan, said: “We are so incredibly proud of Lewis and all his efforts in raising money for the fantastic Strathcarron Hospice.

“The middle years personal project is a great way for students to explore topics they are passionate about and aids them with overall confidence for their time beyond Fairview.

“As an International Baccalaureate delivering school, we want to support our students in becoming confident, principled, lifelong learners. Well done, Lewis.”

Lewis Frickleton said: “Thank you to everyone who has supported the Christmas event and to all the businesses that have donated.

“I’ve really enjoyed organising the Christmas Carnival as part of my project and want to thank my mentor for all their help and guidance throughout the last few weeks.

“The project has helped me gain a range of skills and has improved my overall confidence.

“My fellow classmates and I would love to see you there and encourage anyone attending to support the Strathcarron Hospice where they can.”

Fairview’s annual Christmas Carnival will take place on Saturday, December 7 between 11 am to 3 pm.

The Carnival will take place at the Bridge of Allan Campus, 52 Kenilworth Rd, Bridge of Allan, Stirling FK9 4RY, the event is free to attend with no prior booking required.
