THREE people have been arrested in police raids after residents complained and cops increased patrols.
Police Scotland increased patrols in the Gorgie and Dalry areas of Edinburgh last week following residents’ complaints of drug use.
Both plain clothes and uniformed officers patrolled the areas and carried out a number of raids following the complaints.
Three arrests have been reported as a result of the increased police focus on drug use in the South West of the city.
Worried locals and business owners reported increased drug use in the area to Police Scotland, prompting the response.
One of the three people arrested was also found to be in possession of a knife and was subsequently charged with the offence.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Officers, along with colleagues from the Community Improvement Partnership, have spent the week in the Gorgie / Dalry area in high visibility and plain clothes patrols following concerns from residents and businesses about drug use in the area.
“Numerous properties visited and Crimestoppers literature put in stairwells. Several searches have been carried out with three persons being reported for drug offences, with one adding a possession of a knife charge.
“Lots of engagement with the Community. Two drugs warrants were executed following information provided by the Community.”
