A NEW Edinburgh pizzeria has underlined its growing reputation for serving some of the best pizzas in the country.
Pronto, based in Portobello, has been named a finalist in three categories in the 2024 Scottish Italian Awards.
With votes from its customers, the pizzeria reached the finals in the Best Pizza, Best Pizzeria, and Best Newcomer categories.
Reaching the finalist stage is only possible after customers vote for their favourite eatery via a dedicated vote form on the Scottish Italian Awards website.
Pronto owner Michael Notarangelo said: “We have the best customers, and their votes and loyalty mean the world to us.
“To be nominated in not open but three categories – with Pronto only being open for six months – is incredible.
“But win or lose, we will continue with our focus to serve up the best and most authentic pizzas possible every day.”
Pronto, based in Brighton Place in the heart of Portobello, opened on 1 April and has become a firm favourite among locals and visitors to the area.
It has won huge praise for its pizzas, which are made with the best Italian-imported ingredients.
Michael launched Pronto by conducting detailed research to find the best ingredients from across Italy, conducting exhaustive trials to perfect the dough, and evoking childhood memories of his Italian heritage.
Michael said that while there are plenty of pizza places in Edinburgh, his goal – based on a love of pizza that started on holidays at his family home in Italy – has been to make Pronto as nearly as authentic as you’d find in Naples.
Judges will now visit and scrutinise each finalist before the winners are announced at a ceremony in Glasgow on December 1.
