Sainsbury’s introduces new Aldi price match range

BRITISH supermarket Sainsbury’s has expanded its Aldi price match offers to its convenience stores, making it the first of the major British supermarkets to match Aldi prices out with larger stores.

Four years ago the supermarket started a saving scheme to put food back into the heart of the business and have invested nearly £1 billion since.

This new scheme replaces the company’s previous Pocket Friendly Prices initiative and helps to make savings more accessible to customers at all locations. 

As part of this new program Sainsbury’s stores have refreshed layouts, added more food on the move options and increased products in store by 7%.

The Aldi price match focuses on popular breakfast, lunch and dinner foods as well as daily essentials such as milk, bread, butter, pasta and rice in hopes to help customers save money in the lead up to Christmas. 

Although the supermarket has price matched over 500 Sainsburys own-labelled products in their larger stores, unfortunately not all these offers will be available in every store. 

The amount of offers varies from store to store depending on size but price matches on basic products are available at most locations.

Simon Roberts, chief executive at Sainsbury’s, said: “Since setting out to put food back at the heart of our business four years ago, we’ve invested nearly £1 billion in value.

“Our Next Level Sainsbury’s strategy is about giving customers more of what they come to Sainsbury’s for – outstanding value, unbeatable quality food and great service.  

“With Christmas just around the corner, we know that every penny counts and we are committed to helping our customers make the most of the festive season.”
