Driver gets more than a Halloween fright after pumpkin thrown at their car from another moving vehicle smashes through windscreen

A DRIVER ended up getting more than a Halloween fright after a pumpkin thrown at their car from another moving vehicle smashed through their windscreen.

Thames Valley Police responded to the incident in Oxfordshire on Friday, slamming the “idiot” responsible.

The driver themselves had a lucky escape, sustaining only scratches despite the glass being completely cracked.

Although it is unclear whether the culprit was caught, Brits online have been quick to comment, branding the move as “attempted manslaughter”.

The pumpkin had been chucked from another moving vehicle, impacting right in the middle of the driver’s side of the windscreen.

An image of the damage shows a sizeable break in the windscreen, surrounded by splatters of orange residue and a spiderweb of cracks covering almost all of the glass.

The extent of the damage was shared to social media on Friday with the caption: “Tonight’s idiot award goes to those who thought throwing a pumpkin from a moving car at another moving car was a good idea.

“Luckily the driver only has a few scratches, but it could have been very serious.”

The post has since received over 280 likes and a host of comments from shocked Brits left aghast at the “clowns” behind the damage

One wrote: “Not idiotic, serious offences committed, you’re downplaying responsibility under the criminal law. Luck is not an appropriate term in the realm of road safety.”

A second agreed: “Idiot is not strong enough, attempted manslaughter.”

Another commented: “What the actual f**k? I hope charges are in the offing?”

A fourth said: “This shows that clowns should not be allowed on the road. Hope the court does its job right.”

Another quipped: “Smashing Pumpkin.”

Thames Valley Police have been contacted for comment.
