West Lothian construction companies rally together amid industry challenges

CONSTRUCTION companies in West Lothian have pledged mutual support as they face challenging times for the sector.

The latest meeting of the West Lothian Construction Forum, held at the Sibbald Training Centre in Blackridge, saw its highest attendance yet.

The forum brought together developers, landscapers, electricians, renewables experts, roofers, and house builders, representing around 20 companies.

Lynn Martin of Business Gateway West Lothian was also present as the guest speaker.

Interest in the forum is growing, with another meeting scheduled for November.

Martin highlighted available resources for growing businesses during the event, which focused on how companies can assist each other through tough industry conditions.

Forum chairman Jamie Taylor of Taylor Roofs, who is nearing his first year in the role, said: “It was great to see so many businesses come along and engage with each other.

“There is no doubt that momentum is building, and this week’s meeting was the busiest one yet.

“There were lots of good ideas exchanged, and it was encouraging to hear everyone discuss how we could all help each other going forward.”

The return to in-person meetings has been a key factor in the Forum’s growth

Taylor said: “We are making a conscious effort to get people along and gather in one meeting space as it definitely helps create an energy in the room and in turn build better relationships.”

With interest in the forum continuing to grow, the next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, 13 November at the Sibbald Training Centre, where the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) will be presenting.
