Moment brave woman stops thieves from nicking her e-bike, dragging one to the floor from back of a moped

THIS is the moment a brave woman stops a pair of thieves from nicking her e-bike, grabbing it from the back of their moped and pulling one of the thieves off with it.

The altercation unfolded in Borehamwood, North London, where the woman’s electric bike was swiped by the pair, who quickly boarded a moped and tried to make their getaway.

The woman however, determined not to let them off with it, grabs hold of her bike, and retains a firm grip as the moped accelerates, causing the thief holding it to be wrenched from the back and bringing both him and the bike down to the ground.

Video footage from inside a shop shows the thieves on their getaway vehicle, with one driving and one holding the e-bike aloft on the back.

The woman, wearing a pink jacket, approaches the pair just as the driver revs up, and grabs on to the wheel of her bike

As the bike takes off, the woman stumbles for a moment but refuses to let go, causing the bike – and the thief holding it – to be yanked from the back of the moped.

He is pulled to the ground with the woman’s bike crashing down on top of him as his accomplice speeds off.

The woman remains unidentified, but it does appear she was able to successfully hold onto her bicycle and foil the thieves’ plan.

Video footage of the woman’s impressive display of strength was shared to social media yesterday with the caption: “An old lady getting back her e-bike in Borehamwood.”

It has since received over 1,200 likes and more than 30 comments from impressed social media users.

One user wrote: “I said it ages ago – and it’s coming true. If the police won’t/can’t do their job, the people will start doing it for them.”

Another added: “Good for her, shame people [are] not helping her out.”

A third replied: “Problem isn’t thieves, problem [is] people watching and thinking it’s not their problem.”

Another said: “Well done her.”

A fifth commented: “People just standing around watching, no wonder criminals are getting away.”
