‘Steaks’ are high at Scots supermarket as Glasgow Iceland locks £6.50 meat away in security boxes

THE ‘steaks’ are high at a Scots supermarket as an Iceland in Glasgow has resorted to locking its £6.50 meat away in security boxes.

Mark Dallas was in a branch of the supermarket chain in the city’s Clydebank area on Saturday when he spotted the cuts of beef under lock and key.

The over-the-top security measure appears to have been put in place to deter opportunistic thieves – with Mark joking that he can now rest easy as the “Clydebank steak bandit” has now been fouled.

In a video filming himself walking along the aisles of the supermarket, Mark jokes: “Tell me you’re in Clydebank, without telling me you’re in Clydebank.”

He then walks up to the refrigerated meat section of the shelves showing sausages, beef and other products stocking the fridge.

Continuing on while filming the high security sirloins, he says: “Well, the steaks – only £6.50 – are in some sort of security contraption.”

Laughing, he lifts the secured box from the shelves of the fridge to examine the container before putting it back.

Mark exclaims, “Look at the f***ing state of that” as he laughs to himself at the absurdity of the measure.

Mark addresses the camera again as he quips: “I’ll sleep easy tonight knowing that those succulent sirloin steaks, priced at £6.50, are safe from the Clydebank steak bandit.”

Marks hilarious footage was shared to social media on Saturday with the caption: “Times are tough if this is what Iceland is resorting to in Clydebank.”

His video has since received over 5,400 likes and more than 170 comments from baffled Scots shoppers.

One user wrote: “It’s actually got a GPS tracker on it.”

Another commented: “Haha Scotland at its best.”

A third wrote: “The Lurpak must be under armed guard.”
