SCOTS have been left in stitches after a family car adorned with Rangers FC scarves was spotted preparing to race on the Nürburgring.
A Scots family appeared to be dabbling in some motor racing on the famous German track which frequently hosts supercars and civilian vehicles alike.
With the Nürburgring open to the public since it was built in 1927, the racetrack has seen all manner of vehicles take part in races.
Tour buses, motor homes, cars with trailers and motorbikes have been spotted racing on the famous track alongside supercars and even F1 race cars.
However, it seems the most recent wannabe racers to test their rubber on the track are a family of diehard Rangers supporters.
A silver Nissan X-trail was pictured in the pits of the racetrack alongside a number of other civilian vehicles yesterday.
The family cruiser sported a Scottish registration plate and several Rangers-coloured scarfs as it prepared to set lap times on the racetrack.
The off-road vehicle boasted a sun reflector in the back windows and even a roof box which appeared to have luggage inside.
Although likely not to set any lap records, the unknown Scots motorist certainly won points for bravery from their countrymen.
The image of the unlikely racer was shared to social media yesterday with the caption: “Bravest family in the world.
“About to head out on to the Nürburgring fully loaded with a roof box. Madness.”
It has since received over 165 likes and more than 25 comments from social media users applauding the would-be Stig’s boldness.
One user said: “I’ve been round with two surfboards on top of a Sierra wagon.”
Another wrote: “With Glasgow Rangers scarves ready too.”
A third replied: “This is surely Chevy Chase in a new version of National Lampoons European Vacation.”
Another joked: “Dad finally giving in to ask for directions.”
A fifth added: “In a 132,000-mile X-Trail that took three go’s to pass its last MOT.”
