A SCOTTISH law firm has established a new office in Orkney as it looks to strengthen its physical presence in the Northern Isles.
Independent firm Anderson Strathern has established a permanent presence in Kirkwall, within the Orkney town’s Old Library.
Those within the firm say they have plans to grow its presence and market share in the islands and north of Scotland, suggesting that the new office could potentially supply new jobs.
The office is headed up by partner Sheila Tulloch, who has legal experience from the commercial and public sectors with Alice Tait, senior solicitor, also to be based in Kirkwall.
Situated in central Kirkwall, The Old Library was recently renovated by local accountant and entrepreneur Calvin Cooper.
Cooper developed the space into a co-working space on the ground floor, with private offices upstairs.
The building features an open-plan kitchen/café, two meeting rooms and two adjoining flats available for short-term let.
The renovation has been carried out in a sympathetic and energy-efficient manner, aligning directly with Anderson Strathern’s net-zero ambitions.
The firm has a presence on Shetland with an office in Lerwick, and they say the addition of premises in Kirkwall means the firm is well-placed to offer services across the Northern Isles.
The expansion follows the recent appointment of director Ellen Eunson to the Northern Isles team, who will be based at the new office.
Anderson Strathern is also currently recruiting for a role of legal PA for the new office.
